StashPin Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 12, 2026

StashPin is designed as a local-first personal inventory app. It keeps a local copy of your items, locations, notes, tags, photos, app settings, and backups on your device.

StashPin has no developer-hosted account or content server. Optional iCloud Sync stores Personal content in your private Apple CloudKit database. The app does not include analytics, in-app advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Information stored on your device

StashPin may store the following locally on your device:

Photos

When you choose photos through the system photo picker, StashPin copies those selected photos into local app storage so they can appear with your saved items and locations. StashPin only accesses photos you select. When iCloud Sync is on, photo clues are copied to your private iCloud database; CloudKit encrypts photo assets before storing them.

iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync is optional and applies only to the Personal space. You can turn it off in Settings. Turning it off pauses uploads and does not delete your local data or previously synced iCloud data. Sync requires an iCloud account and uses your iCloud storage quota. Private CloudKit records are owned by you and are not visible in the developer portal. StashPin does not currently provide person-to-person sharing.

Backups, exports, and sharing

You can create backups, export data, and share item details using iOS sharing tools. Those actions are initiated by you. Exports can include item names, locations, notes, tags, dates, privacy flags, and photos when you choose to include them.

You are responsible for where you save or send exported backup files.

App settings and Smart Check-ins

StashPin uses local app settings to remember your preferences. Smart Check-ins are off by default and, when enabled, use local notifications containing only a generic count of items that may need review. Notification content does not include item names, locations, notes, or photos.

Purchases

Monthly and annual Stash Pin Unlimited purchases are handled by Apple's in-app purchase system. StashPin checks App Store entitlements on device to determine whether unlimited items, Personal iCloud Sync, and Smart Check-ins are unlocked. StashPin does not operate a developer-hosted purchase server.

Tracking and in-app advertising

StashPin does not use third-party analytics, in-app advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting services. StashPin does not sell your data.
