Separate the category from the precise location.
Tags help you browse a season. The location tells you where to reach.
A record can use “winter,” “camping,” or “holiday” as a tag while the location names the actual container and shelf. Notes can capture the detail that is easy to lose: which bag holds the extension cords, whether the tree stand is with the tree, or where the replacement clips were tucked.
- Use a broad seasonal tag so related items share a search term.
- Name containers consistently in the app and on the physical label.
- Add a selected photo clue when several bins look alike.
- Save accessories separately when they live apart from the main item.

If a whole category lives together and the label already tells the story, one record may be enough. If an important accessory lives elsewhere, give it its own clue.
The goal is not to catalog a season. It is to prevent next season's first day from becoming a search through every bin.
