Start with the room or area, then add the container and the small detail that separates it from nearby spots. “Office closet, blue bin, back left” is easier to recognize than a label you would never use in conversation.
- Name the object clearly. Add an alternate name when someone in your home might call it something else.
- Use the location field for the route. Room, cabinet, bin, shelf, or drawer can all be part of the clue.
- Add a note for the awkward detail. “Behind the photo albums” may be the part that actually gets you there.
- Choose a photo when words are not enough. A picture can distinguish similar bins, shelves, or boxes.
